Tutorial | 90's Lip/Black Smokey Eye

Products used:
Naked 2 Palette (Verve, Pistol, Blackout)
Mac Extended Play Gigablack Lash
Collection Fast Stroke Waterproof Liquid Liner
Mac Polished Up

So this is basically the look I would have opted for on NYE if I wasn't already fairly intoxicated before doing my eye makeup.  I do not trust my drunk self with black eye shadow... I also made a quick three minute video of the look being created.  I apoligize for the random chunk of purple light that decided to intrude, I only realized after I had put the video onto my laptop.  Stoopid camera.

The brush that comes with the Naked palette is pretty good, so I used it all the way through.  Also, I am lazy.

I started off with Verve as a base shade, then I went over it with Pistol, missing out the inner corner of the eye, because highlight.  I took Pistol down underneath my eyes, and went in with Blackout in the crease, blending with the fluffy side of the brush.

I packed more of Blackout along the crease and top of the lash line, leaving a section of Pistol showing in the middle of the lid, and smudging Blackout out very slightly using the fluffy side.  I wanted some black underneath my eyes as well, so I took Blackout about a third of the way in, on each side of the underneaths of my eyes.

I used my trusty Collection eyeliner to create a tiny cat eye flick, because who doesn't love a cat eye?  For mascara, I put on a couple of coats of my Mac Extended Play Gigablack Lash, and that's the eyes done.

Mac Polished Up is like, the perfect pinky brown 90's shade.  It's still bold, but doesn't look too OTT with the black smokey eyes, and I put on rather a lot straight from the bullet.

Hope you like the look!

  32. Gorgeous look, I love the shimmer to it. Also, I've always done my eyes from the inner corner and I'm never happy with the effect so definitely going to try starting on the lower lash and outer corner xx

  56. Wow this is gorgeous! I love the kinda 'grungy' look of the 90s, especially with smokey eyes it just looks amazing (and a lot easier to do than the modern winged liner type smokey eyes that everyone does nowadays - so difficult to match those up!)
