Casual & Cozy

Fringed Biker Jacket - Vintage
Flannel Shirt - Vintage
Mom Jeans - Topshop (Old)
Velvet Boots - H&M
Socks - Nike
Flower Choker/Yin Yang Choker - Topshop

For those days when being comfy comes first, mom jeans and a massive flannel shirt are the one.  I just spiced things up a bit with my beloved velvet boots, and a fringed biker jacket, which is literally amazinnnggg.

Soz I didn't get a good pic of the flower choker (see it here) or the Yin Yang choker (see it here), but Lewis was a bit ill yesterday, so we were trying to take the pics super quick - I'm a mean girlf, I know.  There are actually little plastic black gem things stuck in the middle of each flower, which is a cute little touch, but so many of them have fallen off.  No offence to Topshop, but I think most of their stuff is such bad quality, and therefore wayyyyy overpriced #unpopularopinion.  Doesn't keep me from spending most of my money in there though, does it?  Sucker.

The Truth About Beauty | 6 Myths Uncovered

There's so many tips, tricks and beauty hacks flying around, your mum tells your one thing, your bff tells you something different, and your beautician - well she shares with you something completely obscure.  So let's try and set the record straight, and debunk a few of those sneaky little myths.

Steam will open up your pores
FICTION
Who knew?  I can't say that I haven't stood with my head hanging over a bowl of steaming water, in desperate attempts to give my skin  deep cleanse.  But alas, believe nothing you have heard - pores do not have muscles, and cannot be opened and closed whenever you choose.  Don't fear, there is some good news - steam/hot water does loosen the dirt inside of pores, so a steam cleanse isn't completely off the cards.

Toothpaste rids your face of blemishes
FICTION
Another so called 'beauty hack' that I can remember my 14 year old self doing - so young, so naive, and toothpaste on spots is so not the way forward.  Sure, the menthol in it can calm down inflammation, but it will also irritate, much like all of the other ingredients of toothpaste.  Ya better off sticking to a cream made for blemishes, and avoiding products specifically for those pearly whites!

Cold showers make your hair shine
FICTION
Similar to our friends, the pores, we cannot control our hair cuticles.  Hairdressers love to spread this one, but unfortunately, it ain't true.  Our hair contains no living cells, so it won't react to cold water.  At least this means that we don't have to be standing under a very delightful stream of cold water to make our hair shiny, right?  Now you know.

Shaving causes your hair to grow back thicker and darker
FICTION
Hair is naturally its widest at the base, and narrows down to a point.  When you shave, you are giving your hair the chop at the widest part, and it continues to grow this wide - a nice little explanation for why it appears thicker and courser.

Wearing makeup everyday is bad for your skin
FICTION
Just force yourself to be good - take it off every night!  Honestly, the culprit of your skin getting worse is more likely to do with not having a consistent skincare routine, and sleeping with a face full of makeup.  I've even managed to train myself to cleanse and moisturize after I've stumbled in from a night out - every time.  Points to me?

You can get rid of cellulite
FICTION
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this in a previous post.  Your cellulite ain't going nowhere.  Ignore all of the creams, lotions and potions that claim to rid your body of the stuff - pure BS.  Their effects last a few months at most, and massaging devices such as the bloggers favourite body brush?  They basically 'iron out' fat cells, so they don't look as prominent - but again, not a permanent fix.  Even exercise can only reduce the appearance of cellulite.  Sorry ladies, your just gonna have to learn to love it!

Got ma-self a blazer

Check Blazer - Thrifted
Pink Floyd Tee - NYC
Shorts - Urban Outfitters (Old)
Boots - Dr Martens
Backpack - Primark (Old)
Yin Yang Choker - Topshop
Fedora - H&M

I think the last blazer I wore was a very nice navy blue number, with my bright yellow school logo sewn onto the top pocket.  I don't think it was one of my better looks, but unfortunately, I wasn't one of the lucky ones whose uniform consisted of a comfy jumper.  My school forced us to into a blazer 5 days a week, and they were everything less than flattering.   Man, I hated those things.

And yet here I am, 4 years later, sporting a blazer.  Not going to lie, I did cut the shoulder pads out. Wasn't quite feeling wondering round, like I'd just stepped out of the 80's.  But I am loving the velvet collar, and the pretty colourful check material.  Too be honest, I just love the contrast between the frayed denim/band tee, and the 'sophisticatned-ness'  of the blazer.

How cute is this little Yin Yang choker, as well!?  It came in a set with the flower choker I am wearing in my last post.  Topshop have the best chokers, literally.

Fluff Ball

Fluffy Jumper - Primark
High Neck Top - Topshop
Tartan Skirt - New Look
Velvet Boots - H&M
Backpack - Primark
Cable Knit Socks - Primark
Fedora - H&M
Tattoo Choker - eBay
Flower Choker - Topshop

Channeling my inner 60s chick with an A - Line skirt, and a high neck top.  A very shear high neck top, may I add.  Can't complain really, as it just opens up opportunities to show off little black triangle bras...

I wasn't really feeling a jacket with this outfit, so on went the king of the snuggly jumpers.  Not going to lie, I may have taken sizing up to a new level with it - to a size 20...  Trust me, it was worth it.  I love how slouchy it looks over the skirt, and how the high neck of the top is still visible.

The Primark Duster

 Duster Coat - Primark
Joy Division Tee - Primark
Socks - Nike
Shoes - Primark

I apologize for not posting all week, the stoopid weather has made it an impossible mission to take any half decent photos... #firstworldprobs.  So, basically everyone has this duster coat from Primark, whether it be in the black, or a pwetty colourful one.  I did originally want that grey/pink/cream tartan one that we've all seen, but to be honest, I don't think it would see much of the world outside of my wardrobe.  The struggle of not wearing colour, right?

Anyone else think it's just that little bit tooooo oversized?  Don't get me wrong, the massiveness has it's benefits - being able to wear big jumpers underneath without being constricted to death, but I do kinda wish I'd sized down to an 8... Maybe something to think about if you're debating buying one.

Deep Velvet

Jacket - River Island (Old)
Snake Print Shirt - Vintage
Check Trousers - Zara
Red Velvet Boots - H&M
Backpack - Primark
Fedora - H&M

I feel like I need to begin by saying that my RUBBISH CAMERA does not capture the full beauty of my new babies.  Chunky Chelsea boots.  With cleated soles.  That are velvet.  VELVET!  Deep red velvet, may I add, and of course my camera refuses to show them in all their glory... The struggle is real.    I saw these in H&M when I was suppose to be hunting down a new fedora.  I swooned when I saw them, and I mean swooooned.  Not gonna lie, I was expecting them to be like 40 quid, but no.  £24.99 they were, how could I say no?  Absolute barg.

Dreaming...

So, if I wasn't such a broke-ass bitch, these are a few of the outfits I would probably be wondering around in... Goddamn stingy student loans!
autumn outfit, autumn outfit ideas, winter outfit, winter outfit ideas, chunky boots, chunky shoes, beanie, choker, 90's, 90's style, ankle socks, hipster outfit, hipster style, oversized blazer, velvet skirt, fedora, studded fedora, check trousers, biker boots, biker jacket, biker outfit
BOY London Beanie - ASOS | Jacket - Topshop | Tunic Dress - River Island | Chunky Boots - Pretty Little Thing | Lace Rose Choker - Regal Rose | Chain Choker - Regal Rose | Socks - ASOS

The most casj of the three, I added a couple of pretty chokers to spice the outfit up a bit.  I so, sooo want a choker from Regal Rose, but they are just a tad out of my price range..  Literally, go check them out, they are gorgeous!

£30 for a beanie is also way out of my teeny tiny student budget, although I do really want to get myself a beanie this year.  Browsing in H&M earlier, I found a black beanie, with a little pink Care Bear motif embroidered on the front - so cute, and so damn 90's.  Debating going back and picking it up..

Studded Fedora - Missguided | Biker Jacket - Zara | Cropped Sweatshirt - Who Cares NYC | Skinny Check Trousers - Missguided | Biker Boots - Zara | Wide Leather Choker - Regal Rose

How un-Zara are these biker boots?  And the biker jacket?!  Zara's AW collection seems too have gotten a bit of an edge to it, and it's most deffo won me over.

Check Boyfriend Blazer - Topshop | Batman Tee - We Are Cow | Velvet Skirt - Topshop | Pom Pom Socks - Topshop | Chunky Loafers - Spy Love Buy | Bison Head Necklace - Rogue And Wolf | Tattoo Choker - eBay

I need that boyfriend blazer in my life.  Need.  In my head, it would look awesome thrown over a grungy/edgy outfit like this.

Rogue and Wolf have the coolest jewellery, and compared to other online jewellery places, they are pretty reasonably priced.  They've also got a bit of a sale going on, so may have to treat myself to the Bison necklace...

Who else is absolutely loving Zara at the mo!?  It's always been one of them shops where, in my head, nothing they sell is really too my taste.  Oh, how wrong I have been.  I popped in there with my mum last week, and we spent about an hour wondering around, trying on literally the whole shop.  Can I just say, their biker leggings are pretty damn cool.  Go and pick a pair up, seriously.
I do feel like a bit of an 80's biker chick in them, they are too goddamn rock n roll.  So easy to wear, but make an outfit so much more exciting than a pair of bog standard black leggings.  And, you see when you find that golden pair of leggings, that are actually thick enough to wear as trousers?  No awkward knicker situations.  These are them.  Points to you Zara.
