In Between Hair Washes | How To Keep That First Day Hair

I hate washing my hair.  I really hate washing my hair.  I can go three to four days before I break and have to face washing it.  Oh, but how I love that first day hair.  The silkiness, the softness, the shininess.  And not forgetting the texture.  This makes it very important to have some trusty products on hand, to keep the beautiful first day hair for as long as possible.

So here it is, my army of 'first day hair' hair products:

Rise 'n Shine Hairspray - got2b | Beach Matt Salt Spray - got2b | Dry Remedy Oil - Aveda | Dry Shampoo - Batiste

Step 1: Dry Shampoo The Greasy Away by using everyone's favourite dry shampoo; Batiste.  The day after washing, I usually just spritz some on my fringe, here and there.  The next day my roots get a dose of Batiste, trying to use as little as possible as it tends to take the shine away.  Annoying.  Who agrees that there needs to be a dry shampoo invented that adds shine to our hair?

Step 2: Get Oily too put back some of that shine, that was taken away in the last step by our lovely Batiste (I love you really Batiste).  And to get rid of that dreaded frizz.  I have been using this teeny tiny Aveda dry remedy sample.  It smells amazing, I'll tell that much.  A few drops ruffled on the ends to make them look less dry.

Step 3: Salt Spray On Some Mermaid Waves.  After the first day wash, my hair can get very limp and textureless, as I am sure is the same for many of you.  This stuff is magic in a bottle.  A few spritzes all over, with a little scrunching, brings my curls back to life.  And did I mention that it smells divine?

Step 4: Hold It All In Place using your fave hairspray.  I'm loving the Rise 'n Shine by got2b at the mo.  It claims to add shine a volume.  Not quite sure about the shine, but I am loving the volume it gives.  I scrunch tiny spritz into my curls, which emphasizes them even more.  Yay for texture!

And that is how I keep my hair looking shiny and full of life in between washes.  Any tips of your own?  Share them in the comments!

  1. I'm trying to leave more days in between washing my hair so this is really useful! I'd like to try the Aveda dry remedy as dry shampoo always makes the ends of my hair loose their shine x

  2. I'm currently trying to stretch washes now that I'm growing my hair down to my waist as washing it every second day is too much of a hassle. I'm loving braids and buns at the moment, let me tell you! They disguise oily roots really well, at least for me! I don't have Batiste available locally but I've been experimenting with other brands. The Garnier one isn't too bad. x

  4. Amazing post, I love the tone to your hair! I always use baby shampoo on my hair, I much prefer it to dry shampoo as it doesn't leave grey residue and I personally think it works better!

  5. I've been trying to wash my hair less often (used to be everyday until this january) but it gets so greasy that I need to use a LOT of Batiste and then it looks grey-ish and lacks shine. I've been using a shine spray from Tony&Guy to try and help it shine but there's a fine line between shiny and greasy-looking. It's so difficult ! :P

  9. I have naturally curly hair so I love that I can do very little to it on wash days. But it goes so flat and limp the next morning so volume hairspray is a must!

  11. Hair washing is such a pain, the longer it gets, the more of a pain it becomes! I'm such a batiste fan, I like that they have a dark one since I'm brunette and the white isn't really helpful for me. I've been looking for a new salt spray and this one seems to do such a lovely job. Off to boots I go!

  23. I loved this post! With my illness, I have to be very careful not to irritate my scalp and my hands, so I have to wear gloves to wash my hair - can you imagine why I hate washing it? I have trained my hair to go a few days between washes - by the third or four days, it usually starts getting a bit oily, so that's when I use a bit of dry shampoo, or even baby powder. I have found that touching my hair less and not using any products like hairspray help a lot with keeping grease at bay! x

  26. I have that got2be sea salt spray but find it doesn't do much for me, perhaps because my hair is naturally pin straight, wah :( Great routine though, your hair looks so pretty and I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates washing their hair!

  28. I used to only wash my hair twice a week and then it started to just get too oily to bare, and dry shampoo makes it worse no matter what brand, so I have to wash it every day. It's a hassle, but at least my hair looks nice!

  34. Please stop here and read my story abut HOW MY LOST LOVER CAME BACK

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in TEXAS,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster .
